Then selling in 2013 to Robert Davey of Santa Ana, California. Davey had the car restored over several years, selling it in 2020 to Bobby Rahal. Bobby Rahal entered it in the 2022 California Mille. Description: A Veloce Spider which has undergone a bare shell cosmetic restoration with receipts and photos documenting the work during the ownership of Robert Davey 2015-2016. A total mechanical restoration was then completed in 2021, with receipts in excess of $50,000 documenting the mechanical work alone. This was done by Alfa Romeo Giulietta expert Conrad Stevenson of Berkeley, California. The engine is rebuilt by Alfa Romeo expert Dave Vegher of Veloce Motors in Petaluma, California. It was Conrad Stevenson who installed a 5-speed gearbox and a 2.0-liter limited slip differential. Dave Vegher built a 1.5-liter engine in the original block, producing 154 hp. It appears stock and original but is a bit of an outlaw. With these performance upgrades, it is ideal for a great driving experience or taking part in the many historic car rallies.
Of Note: The ownership is known from new. This is a matching numbers and colors Spider, which has spent about 50 years in Southern California.
Spares: Original 4-speed tunnel case gearbox and rear axle.
