History: One of only 175 examples of the SL65 Black Series produced for the US market. Only two registered owners from new. First sold by Mercedes-Benz of Indianapolis, Indiana. Upgraded with RENNtech R3 performance package in 2013. Selling to its current owner in Southern California in 2022.
SL65 AMG Black Series Features: The Black Series has a custom body composed largely of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber widened fenders. Carbon fiber front hood. A fixed roof. A large rear wing in the deck lid and rear diffuser are a few of the lightweight features. The carbon fiber widened body allows for the 19” and 20” forged AMG wheels and large slotted & drilled brake rotors.
In addition, the Black Series has adjustable suspension and electronic stability control with adaptive cornering. The interior is trimmed in carbon fiber, with dual zone automatic climate control, Keyless Go, and COMMAND Navigation. Additional features include a flat bottomed steering wheel, AMG embossed headrests, and white gauge faces with LED shift lights.
RENNtech R3: Performance package increases the car’s horsepower by 146hp over the stock SL65 AMG Black Series, up to 810hp and gained 262lb-ft torque up to 1,000lb-ft torque. It includes an ECU upgrade, RAM air inlets, high efficiency dual-intercooler pump upgrade, a stainless-steel exhaust system, upgraded engine and transmission control units, and new turbo chargers. The package includes a 100% locking differential and transmission upgrade to improve traction and handling. Includes gloss black refinishing of body parts, moldings, and emblems as well as carbon fiber trim.
